Kiwanis Visited By Chipley High School Vocal
Ensemble
At the
weekly club luncheon on Tuesday, November 24th,
Kiwanis members were entertained by the Chipley High
School Vocal Ensemble (shown below) with a selection
of songs from their recently completed Fall Show.
Kristi Hinson, Drama Teacher at CHS and coach for
the group, pointed out that the group was newly
formed this school year and has developed rapidly
through the hard work of the students. While the
group has 20 members, only 16 were available at the
meeting as 4 members were on a trip with the
award-winning CHS Band.

CHS
has developed an innovative approach to providing
musical and theatre courses for students by
combining vocal and theatre classes to become the
Musical Theatre Department. As part of the CHS
Drama Club Summer Program, several members of the
Vocal Ensemble performed at the highly successful
Kiwanis Dinner Theatre in late August.
Featured performers at the luncheon were Hannah
Young, Luke Hinson, Christian Dominguez, Joni
Barfield, Leah Page, and Alison Bunge, who formed
duets and trios to take the lead with the remainder
of the group as backup chorus on some songs. On
other songs, the solo role was performed from within
the group. The group was accompanied by recorded
music, except for one song when Larry Hinson played
the piano available in the room.
Arrangements for the program were made by Rev. Price
Wilson in his role as Chair, Kiwanis Spiritual Aims
Committee, as a special treat to mark the
Thanksgiving celebration. The Vocal Ensemble
members were energetic in their performance and were
rewarded with enthusiastic applause and much
toe-tapping by the Kiwanians.
The
Kiwanis Club of Chipley has been providing support
to youth oriented events and programs for 68 years
and last year supported 36 organizations throughout
the county. The club meets Tuesdays at Pattillo’s
Restaurant in the middle of the Washington-Holmes
County Technical Center (WHTC) at Noon. For an
invitation to lunch, contact any Kiwanian or call
Mark Collins, Membership Chairperson, at (850)
258-9453.
Today’s meeting marked the end of the sales campaign
for the annual Holiday Fruit Sale, and the orders
will be delivered to buyers about December 16th
or 17th.
