Chipley Kiwanis Club Reports “the nuts have arrived with fruit to follow” - October 26, 2010

Chipley, FL, Tuesday, October 26, 2010.  Kiwanis Club President David Corbin announced today that the pallet of gourmet mixed nuts is at the freight terminal with delivery within 24 hours.

Featuring a 3 pound designer can with resealable top, the selection contains no peanuts, and the nuts have been roasted in pure vegetable oil, are lightly seasoned with Sea Salt, and include macadamias, cashews, almonds, pecans, brazils, and hazelnuts.  The price is $20 per canister.

Marketing will be through retail displays at locations throughout the county that have foot traffic and will be highlighted with a sign that says, “$20, The Perfect Gift, Your Purchase Supports the Community Projects of Your Local Kiwanis Club”.  This 3 pound selection represents a $40 retail value for a similar quality and amount of nuts, plus it’s kosher certified, so it’s an appropriate gift throughout the holiday period through the end of the year.

The Kiwanis Club of Chipley has been providing support to youth oriented events and programs for 70 years and last year supported 31 organizations throughout the county.

Concurrent with the mixed nut sale, Kiwanis will be conducting the annual Fruit Sale.  For the third year in a row, pricing has remained basically the same for all package sizes.  In addition to the 20# to 40# boxes of Navel Oranges, Ruby Red Grapefruit, Tangelos, Red Delicious Apples, and the always popular Gift Trio boxes (mixed, citrus, or apples, oranges & grapefruit), the club will also be offering locally grown Satsuma’s in a 20# box.  Pricing will range from $15.00 to $35, with most 40# boxes at $25.00.  Kiwanis member have order forms with exact pricing.

Orders can be placed with any Kiwanis member until Tuesday, December 7th, with deliveries of orders around December 16th – 17th.   Orders can also be placed through Stones Chipley Packing Company, Hwy 277 or phone 638-0673, and the Community South Credit Union, 1044 U.S. Hwy 90 East, or phone 638-8376.  Student members of the Key Clubs and Builders Clubs sponsored by Kiwanis in Chipley and Vernon schools will also have order forms.  Information will also be available at the Kiwanis website below.

Next on the fund raising schedule will be the heavily attended Marvin Ingram Memorial Kiwanis Golf Tournament on Saturday, November 6th at the Sunny Hills Golf Course.  It’s a 3 person scramble format and team entry or hole sponsorships are still available by calling (850) 258-6290.

The club meets Tuesdays at Pattillo’s Restaurant in the middle of the Washington-Holmes County Technical Center (WHTC) at Noon.   For an invitation to lunch, contact any Kiwanian or call David Solger, Membership Chairperson, at (850) 638-1276.
